Rosie Perez
Rosie Perez, born Rosa Maria Perez, September 6, 1964, is an American actress and choreographer. Her first big break came from her performance as Tina in the movie Do the Right Thing (1989), and then White Men Can't Jump (1992). Perez's performance on Fearless (1993), won her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado(2000), Pineapple Express(8), and Birds of Prey(2020) are among her most well-known films.
Perez has been nominated for three Primetime Emmy Award nominations in In Living Color (1990-1994), and another Emmy nomination (2020-present) for her role in the role of The Flight Attendant. She has appeared in stage plays on Broadway including The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, and Fish in the Dark. She also hosted The View's 18th season on ABC's talk show The View.
Early life
Perez was born on the 6th of September 1964, in Brooklyn to Lydia Perez (a merchant mariner seaman) and Ismael Serano (a Bushwick neighborhood resident). [3][4][5] Her mother Lydia (nee Fontanez y Reyes) was born on the 13th of October, 1939, in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Her father came from Aguadilla in Puerto Rico. Arturo Perez was her mother's 20-year-old husband. After having an affair with Serrano Perez, her mother had already five children. Perez was born at the now-closed Greenpoint Hospital in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Perez is among the ten kids that her mother gave birth to. Rosie as well as her siblings were raised in Bushwick and their mother was detained for indefinitely long periods. Her mother gave birth to her youngest child while she was in jail. After being raised by her aunt, she was placed in foster care and group homes. She was often kept apart from her brothers. She was put into a group foster home, and was in foster care in New York until she reached age eight. She was legally considered an ward of the State of New York until age twelve. Her aunt and her mother visited her often, and her father tried unsuccessfully to get custody of her.
